Undergraduate Student
Veronika Gukova
Research Interests: Plant and animal species conservation, sustainable energy, Indigenous involvement in forestry practices, zero waste living, international reforestation, and climate change research and mitigation.
Veronika was born in Almaty, Kazakhstan and moved to Canada at a young age. She entered the Natural Resources Conservation program at UBC with hopes of learning more about the connection between society and natural environment, and how that connection transforms over time with climate change. Recently, she embarked on a trip to Iceland to learn about its sustainability issues and policies.
In her near future, Veronika hopes to enter the research field and apply to a Masters program. She is interested in remaining in the academic field and potentially spending time with NGOs.
She loves spending time outdoors and in her spare time indulges in cooking, kayaking, and salsa dancing.
