Reflections on grad-school during COVID-19.

Even though we can’t yet meet in person on campus, the SES group has been meeting and connecting virtually over the past 10 weeks. We’ve been sharing challenges, victories (both small and big!), and strategies for coping (yes, including favourite Netflix, podcasts, and bread recipes)! We’ve also started science-ing again – holding mock comprehensive exams, planning for virtual writing days and digging into virtual methods for qualitative inquiry.

It’s been a challenging time for all, to say the least, and one thing has become abundantly clear is that everyone is experiencing the pandemic differently. Marina, Kelsey and I were asked to share some thoughts on grad student experiences and support in a “connections” video for the Faculty of Forestry. If you are interested, take a listen to these two incredibly articulate voices! I look forward to ongoing conversations as we continue to support each other and navigate the months to come.
