Knowledge mobilization (highlights from 2019-2020)
Marina, Guillaume and members of the Wildlife Conservation Society project organized a panel on Successes, challenges, and new directions for addressing human dimensions in conservation adaptation for the North American Congress for Conservation Biology (NACCB), which will now proceed virtually in July. Stay tuned for links and details!
Earlier this spring, Guillaume presented our work from the CoAdapTree project in the form of two online seminars to the Climate Adaptation Group of the Association of BC Forest Professionals and the Forestry Adaptation Working Group within the Canadian Forest Service.
The SES group was well-represented at the XXV International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) World Congress in Curitiba, Brazil last fall (photo). Sarah Dickson-Hoyle led and participated in a number of high-profile events and presented her thesis in 3MT format, which was very well-received! The CoAdapTree GELS team (Ricardo Pelai, Guillaume Peterson St-Laurent, Ngaio Hotte) all did a terrific job presenting their research! Myself and Rob Kozak (Co-PIs on the GE3LS CoAdapTree project) also presented some of our work, and even got to steal a few moments on the big stage to talk about knowledge integration.
Last fall, Kelsey presented her research on Fostering knowledge diversity to manage wildfire in a dynamic eco-cultural landscape at the International Fire Ecology and Management Conference (Tuscon, US), and Transforming Approaches to Forests and Forestry (Vancouver, BC).
Also last fall, Sarah Dickson-Hoyle and Sara Nawaz presented their research on a panel co-organized by myself and Terre Satterfield on Rights, relations and new natures in the Anthropocene at the Annual Meeting of the American Anthropological Association.
